An average Singaporean earns about $2000 ~ $3000 be it ur a diploma holder or degree holder.
i'm talking about AVERAGE here and considered that you have been working regularly, which in another words you have contributed quite a 'sum' to your CPF a/c and your own bank savings a/c. To factor in my post on the above mentioned, i'd also assume that your debt free (meaning you don't owe any people/organization money).
An average HDB Flat 5-Room will cause you about $400K.
-If you factor in renovation, new furnishings, new household appliances, .etc .etc
Wedding dinner & preparations all factor in at a budget of $50,000.
-Good wedding dinner reception, honeymoon, photoshooting, you know lah girls will always say "HEY ITS MY WEDDING. THE ONE EVENT FOR A GIRL TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL IN HER LIFE". Okok i give in i give in...
Who doesn't want a car? Add in another $50,000 for a normal usable car.
-Can't even buy 1/2 of an EVO :((
Filial Piety is the most important principle in a man's life.
-Taking care of your elderly folks and parents will also set you another sum of money because healthcare is just expensive. And when my parents are old and frail i want them to live comfortably and smoothly without worrying anything except to enjoy their golden years.
Children's education.
-All parents want the best education for their kids. i'd want my children to attend a proper school journey all the way to a proper university too. I want them to enjoy the most fun and interesting childhood like what i had. My indian neighbor is so fuckin' proud that she paid $200+ for her son to have tuition on just 1 Subject/1Hour/Week.
And before i add on to it, i'm in a debt of at least $0.5 Million already.

Friendship or Justice?
We all have friends.
Be it childhood friends, school friends, working friends or online friends.
Some of us even have friends for so long that we haven't really seen them before in real life all thanks to the wonders of social-networking and internet-relay-chats tools.
Now say one of these friends committed a sin, a bad thing or done something terribly wrong. You found out about it.
You know the truth.
You can see his sad-pitiful looks by trying to come out with an excuse of denial.
You know he has gone against your principles in life or he has broken some moral codes.
You know that he can't escape the law.
How would you look at him/her as time goes along?
Would you stand up for him?
Would you abolish your code of honor/principles for once just for this friend?
Most importantly, will he/she still be your friend?
Or would you condemn him to the punishment he deserves? And watches him suffer the consequences of his doing?
For me, there's only 1 word.
Justice.

Local Tv? Not for me.
It was announced in Singapore 2011 Budget that Tv & Radio taxes will be abolished. In another words, we no longer required to pay $110 tax to watch Tv Programs or listening to Radio broadcasts annually anymore. Now that prompted me a very good question that is when was the exactly last time I watched Local Tv channels since my family subscribed to Cable Tv services since 1999.
The answer is quite straightforward. 2011-1999=12 years!
First of all, I find that local programmes no longer has the creativity and X-Factor since my primay/secondary school days. The serials are pretty dull and unconvincing. Variety shows are either lame or really make me feel like a fool laughing at dumb hosts and contestants. If you ever had the chance to watch Taiwanese Variety Shows, you find exactly that they are much more superior in generating what I called "Effects Elements".
Secondly, the rise of Korean & Japanese dramas has pretty much got all our teens hooked to them. A subscription to the basic tier of Starhub Cable Tv allows you to watch direct broadcast from KBS! Now who doesn't want that? If you like musics, there's also MTv channel to broadcast latest and hippest music MVs around the globe. To be honest, when was the last time you managed to get a glimpse of music MVs on local tv?
Lastly, HD content. Nowadays everything is in HD. If you have spent like a couple of thousands on a brand new LED backlit Tv, would you still want to watch grainy and out of contrast broadcasts thats not even 720P? I believe nobody wants that. To be fair, CH5 has been broadcasted in HD but seriously, you know.. It's CH5.
With CSI franchises, Fringe, 24, desperate housewives, Glee, Numb3rs, and so much more, this truly explains why my parents will swear by the living room Tv daily from 10pm-4am.
Now pass me the Tv controller somebody. :)

U-Turn Ur Life.
Here's a quick thought from me while i had a walk and saw a U-Turn sign on the roads.
We go to school and study hard so we can be awarded with a recognized certificates at the end of the day. (Typical Singaporean student thoughts.)
We go around searching high and low for a good job with a decent salary. So we can finally live the life we always dreamt of. (Typical 8-5pm hardcore office employee mindset.)
We try our best to work hard, learn things from failed experiences, clock as much OT, take as few as leave/offs, impress as much superiors/bosses in our workplace so we can be promoted to higher executive roles/positions. (Typical young adults dreams.)
We try to look for companionships and soulmates so we can start a family and enjoy the warmth and happiness of a closed home. (Typical mid-adults dreams.)
And the list goes on and on...
However, what if one fine day, you realized that this gameplan, this goal or process has come to a stall. (In another words, it's either you fucked urself up or the environment has turned 180 degrees for you.)
You are no longer appreciated at your workplace.
You find your qualifications too "low" for Senior positions.
You find that your salary can no longer sustain your "fantasy" lifestyle.
You find that your companion is earning more than you and your mocked by friends/relatives.
You find that no matter what you do, hours minutes and days passed super stagnant and the mood is always constant. (Basically your just going through a routine/motion.)
However, you might have something in your hidden trick pockets that others doesn't have. And that's what i call "The Courage to Change".
Would you want to give up this comfort zone and make a u-turn whereby you start everything from scratch again? Or will you want to wait until your near retirement age and find your struggles has plagued nearly 1/2 of your life and situation is still as dire as ever.
Well i did.
I made a U-Turn for almost 2yrs already and i haven't regret since. Even those it's living a life with not much spare cash to spend on material stuffs, at least i'm happy. I lived my life throughly this 2yrs. I found Love, I found new friends, I experienced new things, I learnt and picked up new skills. So to those people out there whom has been calling me names, trying means and ways to despise me. etc..
"I can afford to U-Turn. But, can you?"

Humid & Stuffy
A couple of weeks back Singapore was pretty rainy and cold at nights. Then many were complaining how difficult it was to travel & move around. Now, it seems like we are living in "Sunny island" again. I don't mind hot weather but I really hate this humidity condition that comes along with it. Especially when you just had a nice cooling shower and the moment you stepped out of your house, you're all sweaty and sticky again. Yucks!
Well i just bought this app via AppStore for iOS devices. It seems it can allow me to blog on the go without using a computer. Tons of other social networking tools are bundled with it too. Well its only $2.99 and its universal meaning it can be used on various iOS devices on a single purchase. Not bad for newbie blogger like me.
I shall be spending the rest of today studying and hopefully i can complete one module by tonight so I can start the other one tomorrow morning. After the 3Km run last night my 2 thighs are feeling rather crampy. :(

2011.
If i said that the start of 2011 has been quite smooth-sailing, then i'm pretty much bullshitting. School has started and strangely i find it tougher compared to last semester. Even though i gotta admit that i've taken some of the specialization modules in my Polytechnic years but to be honest, whatever i've learnt in poly is either basic to the thins or i've totally forgotten everything. Pretty simple. Just study hard mug hard and then strive for the best results in examinations.
I think i've put on at least 5Kg since 2010 and my fat-bulgy tummy is like HEAVYROCKS these days. Well i've started exercising again. Running at least 2KM every alternative nights + some cardio exercises. Now with the new IPPT system being implemented, i do not wish to be victim of it and i really wish to pass. KEEP RUNNING AND EXERCISING YOU FATA**!
Iron Maiden dropped by couple of days back and i attended it with my childhood buddy Mr.Chinglong it's really 1 hell of a nice live show back there! (SCREW YOU NOOBS FOR SAYING FENDER GUITARS AREN'T FOR A REAL ROCKER)
Last but not least, i'm looking forward to my 1-yr anniversary with Miss Snow Yadanar. <3
